POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Director (BDD) is a hunter who drives sales and serves as the point of contact with pharmaceutical manufacturers interested in Medicx audience and patient/HCP data and analytics products, including SaaS and custom analytics products.

The BDD is an individual contributor who cultivates relationships and develops pharmaceutical and life science leads; works with principals and internal teams to further refine client needs and develop project specifications; delivers proposals and closes business.

The BDD develops strategic account plans for their assigned clients with support from other team members. This strategic account plans become the primary document that prioritizes and drives the BDD’s activity.

The BDD must have practical written and verbal communication skills. The individual should be comfortable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment and have a high tolerance for ambiguity.

The BDD will report to the Business Development Executive Team Leader and collaborate with various internal teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Business Development Team focuses on driving sales of all data and analytics products, including audience and data subscriptions, SaaS, and custom commercial analytics products.

The BDD is responsible for understanding the strategic vision while managing day-to-day details, managing clients, and delivering the Company’s business objectives.

The BDD serves as the “general manager” of their territory and is responsible for the Medicx relationship with assigned accounts and their business performance. Success in this role requires a detailed understanding of:

  1. The client’s business needs and goals
  2. Pharma / Life Sciences marketing concepts and associated data and analytics
  3. Medicx data and audience products and services (both SaaS and custom)
  4. Medicx processes and methods to fulfill client deliverables and our sales targets

The BDD cultivates client relationships across the client organization, including decision-makers, budget holders, and influencers.

The BDD develops and executes Strategic Account Plans. Strategic Account Plans outline the activities and context necessary to achieve the sales objectives for Medicx products and services.

The BDD is expected to help develop and evolve Medicx Health products and related strategies based on market feedback from clients.

Duties include understanding and working with with Medicx processes, account Planning, sales forecasting, pricing, contracting, proposal development support, negotiation, and project implementation support. Additional duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing all territory sales-related activities for audience and data products, analytics product offerings – SaaS and custom analytics.
  • Keeping line of sight to account team client contact, including full knowledge of existing business, new business development, and account growth as executed on a day-to-day basis by the account team members.
  • Ensuring the account team’s execution of the strategic account plan, including developing and implementing qualitative and quantitative metrics for achieving account success.
  • Organizing and managing day-to-day account team activities to ensure the proactive and seamless pursuit of business with assigned accounts.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure all contracts and related paperwork are complete for all project engagements.
  • Building deep strategic relationships proactively at higher accounts (e.g., brand managers, C-suite).
  • Monitoring and reports activity against The Strategic Account Plan regularly.
  • Meeting or exceeding appropriate financial goals for territory
  • Demonstrating enthusiasm, drive, rigor, and a sense of urgency when managing the business.
  • Knowing when to share decision-making and when not to while taking ownership of complex decisions.
  • Keeping on top of changes and trends in the marketplace and how these impact the business.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/ life science industry in the following areas: sales, marketing consulting, data analytics, including at least 3 years of client-facing roles.
  • Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment where troubleshooting and creative problem solving is necessary, sometimes also requiring going beyond your job description
  • Exhibits understanding of the use and nuances of prescription claims, medical claims, and consumer data to solve client business challenges for both patient and prescriber/HCP projects.
  • Engages clients and leads dialogs as a consultant to understand business problems from their perspective and brainstorm on solutions leveraging data assets.
  • Demonstrates experience developing relationships with senior-level managers, brand managers, procurement leaders, analytics and research teams, and other executives at pharma clients.
  • Shows ability to manage/participate in multiple projects, prioritize work and drive to deadlines to deliver client projects.
  • Leverages strong problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills

  • Troubleshoots with creative ability to overcome challenges and solve problems
  • Travels as required, with 25% to 30% anticipated travel percentage.
